The Information Commons area provides 49 networked Windows XP and Macintosh OSX computers. Software provided includes internet browers and support applications, the Microsoft Office (2003 or 2007) and Open Office productivity suites, and Mathematica. Some computers also provide other software used by particular classes such as Oztex/Miktex, PHStat2, etc.

All computers have DVD-R drives.

Saving, Printing, and Scanning Documents

• Saving documents to the computer hard drives is not supported.
• CD/DVD burning capability is not provided in the InfoCommons.
• 3 1/4 inch floppy drives are no longer supported.
• All computers support USB flash drives, recommended for their superior reliability and larger storage capacity.

Grayscale ("black and white") printing is available directly from InfoCommons machines or indirectly using our internet printing service for laptops and remote users. Printing requires use of a copier/printer magnetic stripe card and costs 8 cents per page. Cards can be purchased for $5.00 in the Library.
